Synopsis For The Middle Texas Coastal Waters

A weak to moderate easterly flow is expected through Saturday night due to a high pressure ridge north of the area. Hurricane Gustav is forecast to enter the southeast Gulf of Mexico on Sunday morning and make landfall along the northern Golf coast by Tuesday. Winds will respond by becoming offshore Sunday night. The main concern for mariners is expected to be large swells from Gustav. These swells are expected to reach the middle Texas coastal waters by Monday. Mariners should closely monitor the track forecasts of Gustav from the National Hurricane Center.
